The art installation Laboratorium suggerere mimics a medical research lab—a place where reality and imagination mix. At first, the smooth shapes and colors seem inviting, but on closer look, the space feels unsettling. The installation includes 3D-printed body parts, bones, veins, and abstract forms made from materials like plastic, wax, and silicone. These objects look like both artificial limbs and biological structures, but they don’t clearly belong to either. In a state of change, they suggest something new that hasn’t fully taken shape.
The work invites visitors to think about how medicine and science are changing, encouraging them to explore the space through touch, sight, and smell.
This project was inspired by a collaboration with the 3D printing teams >INOVA.DE< in Heidelberg and >Create it REAL< in Aalborg, Denmark. They are developing a 3D printing system to create artificial body organs that closely resemble real human tissue using patient data.
During my residency, I worked with this technology and made it part of my artistic concept. The installation brings this scientific development into an art space, exploring what the human body might be made of in the future.
Laboratorium suggerere is part of the Art & Technology program of S+T+ARTS, an initiative of the European Commission.
